The Daily Ride

K.O.B I am Not.

All went well during the 32:24 minute race, my time. 12th over all. I felt OK considering the week up coming to race day was a total of 2 hours in the saddle. Damn rain, damn flooded basement,(12 gallons of water sure gets heavy after 12 hour's of continuous hauling from the basement to the back yard), damn hurt'in for too day's after.

Here's a few picture's taken by -Jeff Haitz- Photographer.
A man of very many talent's.

Great shot's Jeff.
Mad props to The Legend and NBX Matt for racing the tandem. I believe there time was in the 40 minute range.

Then the after ride.
Arcadia.
Noon time.
Slipping bake into our wet, cold and muddy gear we head off into the depths of the park. The place was a mess, deep water holes every where.
We made our way to Falls River rd. from the main lot by way of Break heart trail.
The pack was quit large with 9 rider's, we manage to keep it together with only one issue. Arcadia rock Vs Stan's No Tube. The rock won.
I hope all liked the trails.
Come back soon.

Well back to the basement to continue on this week's Historical flood clean up.
I need a ride.

The Daily Ride

Here's a couple clip's from the squeeze on sunday. Craig Mello is back.......

So I recive a call from a friend today who sound's a bit in distress, He start's to tell me about his ride on sunday with his wife, they're having a great time. She's loving the trail riding scene, I belive this is her first time in the trail's and she's riding with clipless pedal's. (You Go Girl) Then comes disaster, the dredded come to a stop and you can not get your foot out. I'm not sure if she got a hand out but wack!!!!! cheek meet rock. OUCH!!!! I hope to have a picture up soon.
You would think one might be gun shy after a big rock to the face but not this chic, Hoped her ass back on that saddle and finished up there ride. 2 plus hour ride and a shiner, not bad for your first trail ride.
Great Job Melissa,
Rain day tomorrow, Wensday is a KOB pre-ride at Burlingame, Thursday, friday and Saturday are road day's then the KOB plus the after KOB Arcadia ride on Sunday.

The Daily Ride

So I set out yesterday with the big C in mind, I had a route planed out that would have broke the C mark by a many mile's.
I had a couple goal's in mind for this ride, time my commute to work and get to NBX to grab a few C02's then head out around the reservoir on RT 14.

Two out of three task's were completed.
Commute to work 1:50 minute's. (West Warwick to Westerly)
Next to do, get to NBX for C02.
I believe around mile 68 or so I arrive At NBX on Boston Neck RD. inn Narragansett. As I walked in the front door I think wow this place is pedal head's dream. Wall to Wall goodies. I give the Legend his mountain dew and chat it up a bit. I grab the last threaded C02, a glance at a map, then filled my bottle's in the kitchen area.

I'm back in the saddle, Rt 1 to Rt 102 here I come. I hit 102 and it hits me back with a strong head wind. I thought I was in a tunnel.
The mile's are falling but not as fast as the air from the snake bite in the rear tire.
DAMN mile 85
I change the flat and carry on. Left with no tube or c02 I decide to hit Rt 117 in Coventry and head for home.
I'm cruising along (on a downward angle) when I encounter a econovan in the break down lane on my side. As I get approach the van I can see the van is moving backwards down the hill, the front end swerving back and forth. I am now forced way out into the road. I was a bit on edge with the situation so as I ride by I make the mistake of thinking out loud. What the ---- are you doing must have come out louder then I thought.(damn head phone effect)
This man then proceeds to track me down and wave me over to start a confrontation with me. He asked me if there was a question I had for him, I tried to blow of the situation and said no. He gets into the fact of what I said. I tell him politely, you were driving backwards downhill the wrong way. I was backing towards my mail box he says.
He than comes out with (You should see how you ------- Idiot's Drive). He then proceeds to tell me how he would like to get out and kick my ass. I play it off with a snide ya what ever due to the fact that a 60 year old man is behind the wheel. He then tells me to get the hell out of here so I smile and nod, say good bye and get in front of his van in the shoulder. He then proceeds to gas it a bit towards me as I creep away. As we part way's I wave a tell him have a good day as he is still bitching.
I was a bit bothered by the encounter and stewed about it for the remainder of my ride.
98 and a bit is where I ended my ride.
Damn C still stands.
Well I'm off to tube up the MTB rear tire before my putt in the wood's.

The Daily Ride

First day of 2010 with a jersey and lite long sleeve, the long sleeve could have been droped. The crew was large today, the usaul suspect's plus 4. I felt a bit off today, it all started with the bottle flying out of my jersey pocket hoping over the first of two log hop's before a small switch back. I pick up the bottle as the boy's cruise on by, I proced to case the second log and peg out on the switch back. SUCKER. We hit the next trail head and group back together, let the fun begin. Fuller and Matt take the front two spot's so I figure I should rub there tire's and break there spirt's early on. Nope!!! Matt droped me do to the stick wraped in cog, chain and spoke's trick then Fuller stuff's me into an old fall down. Good job Fuller, that's a move out of the legend's book. As we ride on I come to the end of the enduro trail, there I stand about eye level with an owl. I reach for the camra and it take's off. I got a few good shot from a distance. The rest of the ride was pretty uneventfull. The group broke down to four head's. We hit up the escoheg area then the ledge's and called it a day. What a way to start off a sweet spring like day. Here's a clip from to ledge on Rt 165. Till tommorow's daily ride.

The Daily Ride

What a week. Snow sleet rain sunny and 50, I love New England.
5 out of 7 day ride week for me do to the wise word's of the Legend.
IF YOU WANT IT, YOU GOT TO DO IT.
Thank's Jim, keep the word's of wisdom coming.
Two day's of trail riding, a wet recovery ride on the green way bike path, a real wet cold on and off road ride(left hand froze up so bad I felt resistance opening and closing my hand, the finger nail's felt like they were going to pop off) then there is today's 87 mile road ride. What an adventure, I needed the mountain bike on a few of the back country road's that I traveled. Stony Ln., Pardon Jocelin Ln. both pass at own risk road's. Blitzkrieg Trail, Hazard Rd. Here is a picture of Stony Ln. and Hazard Rd.

I finally hit Rt 14a for some open road riding out to Moosup CT. then back towards the reservoir on 14. What a great ride, I wanted 100 but ended up with 87 and a bit.
After two hrs of sitting on my butt I'm off to replace a blown up B/B with a different blown up B/B so I can ride in the morning.
Arcadia, Browning Mill Pond 8 am Be there.
